New Genrations - Indpendent Indian Filmfestival starts with
Germany premier of "Miss Lovely"

Miss Lovely 9We will start with a real sensation: directly from the festival in Cannes „Miss Lovely“ by director Ashim Ahluwalia will have its German premier at our festival”. 'Miss Lovely' just won the best Indian film award at Mumbai film festival. Set in the lower depths of Bombay's "C" grade film industry, “Miss Lovely” follows the devastating story of two brothers who produce sex horror films in the mid-1980s. The film gets under the skin of the Bollywood underground, an audacious cinema with wild cinemascope compositions, lurid art direction, rollicking background soundtracks, and gut-wrenching melodrama.

Item Number10: 15 pm
Short Films

Director Onir who presented his film “I Am” last year, suggested five young filmmakers, whose short films we now show as exclusive German premiers. Thank you Onir! The films are characterized by their strong narrative and high quality. We will also show “Item number” by ex Frankfurt artist and filmmaker Oliver Husain, rewarded as best German film at the Oberhausenfestival 12. Detailed infos on our website.

New Generations - Independent Indian Film Festival
9 to 11 November 2012 at Kino Orfeos Erben

New Gen FlyerFrom 9 to 11th November 2012 the forth „New Generations – Independent Indian Film Festival will bring highlights of the new Indian Cinema to Frankfurt. The festival is unique in Germany and has been very well received beyond Frankfurt. Again in 2012 at the renowned cinema Orfeos Erben we will present fascinating high quality productions from the genres feature, documentary and short film, among them some Germany premieres. In 2011 we showed critically acclaimed films such as “Bombay Diaries”, starring Amir Khan or “West is West”. Director Onir from India was one of our guests.

“Indien aktuell” wrote about the mostly sold out festival 2011:
„Again the small but really exquisite „New Generations – Independent Indian film Festival“ at the rewarded Cinema Orfeos Erben in Frankfurt presented highlights of the new Indian cinema. And again the third edition of the multifaceted, three day festival directed by Binu Kurian Joseph and Petra Klaus lived up to it’s high ambitions. Still we wish there would be more festivals like the „New Generations“ of Indian Vibes. The sold out shows show that there is a request for this kind of films. We are already looking forward to the festival next year."

The festival is organized by the non-profit organisation Indian Vibes Neue Generationen e.V.
